Short summary of how excited I am that my best friend Mel mel got to meet Douglas for the first time! :) We had great pizza at Proof @ Bangsar and chilled at Mantra bar before the both of us left for Krabi the next day.
DAY1 :
Today we set off from KL to Krabi, Thailand. It was very exciting for Douglas and I as we have never travelled together before. The flight there was not too long, about 1 hours plus and we arrived at Krabi International airport. Our first night was at Pop- In Hostel, which was about 30 minutes drive from the airport. We booked a mixed dormitory with multiple bunk beds, it was pretty weird as we were staying with strangers in the same room. I didn't quite like it even though it was clean, I needed more privacy. We got dinner and walked around the streets looking for Ferry tickets to Phi Ph island the next day.
DAY2:
We set off to Phi Phi island today! really excited because well..I don't wish to stay any longer in that pop in hostel. The ferry ride to Phi Phi island cost about THB300 per person, which includes pick up from our hostel to the pier, a 1.5 hour ferry ride to Phi Phi island. I was really excited about going to Phi Phi for island hopping as well as snorkelling.
Once arrived at Phi Phi island, we search for our resort called the Gypsy Sea View. It was about 10 minutes walk from the pier and that place had a swimming pool so I was pretty impressed. The only bad review about that place was the mosquitos in our room. Douglas couldn't resist his temptation to kill 10 of them in one go! That was pretty amazing haha. We got lunch and decided to walk around the place to find activities to do the next day. Tourist were everywhere so the locals weren't too worried about lack of demand for their water sports. We settled for the THB1100 half day 4 island hopping tour which includes speed boat to : Maya Bay, Pileh bay, Viking beach, and monkey beach!
DAY3:
Let the pictures tell you! :)
Day 4:
We took the ferry back to Aonang Beach. We stayed at Room's republic, which is a very nice and cute hostel, and a very expensive one too! This place is slightly further from the first hostel we stayed in, about 20 minutes walk to the night market etc. After having a simple thai fried rice near our hostel, we took the long tail boat to Railay and Tonsai beach.
Railey was beautiful! We stopped at Railey to have pancakes and fruit juice! it was more expensive compared to Ao Nang beach. After that, we walked across some really dangerous and sharp rocks to get to the other side of the beach, where we found the secret place to rock climb! This place is very famous for rock climbers due to the natural limestone rocks, and it was indeed very pretty!
We got on the 6pm long tail boat back to Ao nang beach and called it a day
Day5:
Today was pretty interesting as we booked the half day kayaking tour to Ao thalane. Douglas was really excited about it. The journey to Ao Thalane was about 30 minutes by car. Once arrived, we had morning coffee/tea and waited patiently for the guide, there were about 20 people waiting in our group as well.
Douglas and I took the couple kayak. he was sitting behind me because he was the stronger one, duh. We started off with some nice views as shown in the photos below. Overall would rate this kayak 8/10 with perfect view and great company.
After kayak, we head off to our next hostel which is Chanchalay hostel at Krabi town. We took the shuttle bus from Ao nang to town for THB50 per person, which is really cheap compared to tourist price of a private van which cost THB200 per person.
The only good thing about Krabi town was that everything was CHEAP! Douglas and i went to the night market and got tempered glass for our phones which only cost THB100. Fruits like coconut, pineapple and mango only cost THB20. I'm guessing we really got ripped off this whole trip while in Aonang and Phi Phi island.
Overall was a great experience with Douglas and I would say that he is a wonderful travel buddy :)
